What is an ISEK?
An ISEK, i.e. an Integrated Urban Development Concept, is a prerequisite for receiving urban development funding from the federal government and the state of Hesse. It shows the urban development prospects of a spatially defined area for the next 10 years. It thus forms the roadmap for the upgrading of urban areas.
Taking into account social, urban development, cultural, economic and ecological aspects, an ISEK identifies the adaptation requirements within an area and defines objectives for the future development of the area. Building on this, the ISEK provides solution-orientated measures with which the development goals can be achieved.
ISEK development as a cooperative process
The development of an ISEK is a joint task in which public, private and civil society stakeholders are involved. Citizens and stakeholders from politics, administration, the private sector, associations, clubs and social organisations are explicitly invited to participate in the development of ideas and projects and their subsequent implementation. For this reason, Homberg (Efze) is planning a broad-based participation process with face-to-face events and online formats to accompany the development of the concept. The planning office ProjektStadt has been commissioned by the town of Homberg (Efze) to develop the concept.
